cabmw11 This piece is fashined from a very large family shrine c 1850-1880 Shanxi Province. The bottom stand was added to make it a useable cabinet. Door carvings depict the four 'virtues' of calligraphy, literature, music and art cultured by the elite classes. Judging from the size and quality, this shrine would have graced the large ancestral hall of a wealthy family. Excellent example of late 19th century carving; truly one of a kind piece! Elmwood; 75: high x 50" wide x 19.5" deep. Additional photos of any asian antique item available on request.
